The model superstate, "truly a fascist state" under an unelected dictatorship. It was engineered through "stepping stones" from a free-trade area to a centralised state with a central bank and single currency[1]. And the Truth Shall Set You Free makes it the first of three planned trading blocs (with an American and a Pacific Union) and "a major stepping-stone" to the New World Order: "Monnet created a monster which is in the process of devouring freedom", and "the European Union is already a centralised dictatorship"[2]. In that book the European Community (Icke's earlier name for it) is the Hegelian "synthesis" produced by the Second World War alongside the UN, and "a smokescreen" for the changeover to centralised rule[3].

- The Templar aim (12th–13th centuries) of a United States of Europe, carried through the Freemasons and Bilderberg. Hitler's "Europaische Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft" plan was imposed after his defeat. It was built by Monnet, Coudenhove-Kalergi and Retinger with Warburg money, and the Maastricht Treaty (1992) turned the EC into the EU[4]. And the Truth Shall Set You Free gives the same steps: the Templar goal (re-formed as the Scottish Rite), Coudenhove-Kalergi's Pan European Movement, Benelux, the European Coal and Steel Community (the "first step"), the Treaties of Rome (25 March 1957), then Maastricht[5]. Its plan is the model for the UN, and it is to merge with the American and Pacific Unions under a global government[6].
