- 01And the Truth calls it the CIA's "gruesome mind-control project", headed under Allen Dulles[3], and "the most notorious" CIA programme: drugs, depatterning and psychic driving involving some 150 institutions, 44 universities and 185 scientists, begun in the 1950s under Dr Ewen Cameron[2].
- 02Its directors included the president of the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Centre and the head of the Smithsonian Institution; Richard Helms destroyed most of its documents in 1973[2].
- 03Its offshoots and variations include Project Monarch, Bluebird, Artichoke, MKDelta and MKNaomi[2].
- 04Jonestown "was the final field experiment of MKUltra"; the victims' mix mirrored the programme[4].
- 05In the later books it is the CIA's trauma-based mind-control programme, run with Paperclip Nazis (hence the German "MK"), with Josef Mengele as "Dr Green"; it aimed at undetectable slaves, "lone nut" assassins and programmed terrorists, was only partly exposed in the 1970s and never ended; its techniques, masks included, are now used on the whole population[5].
- 06In the 2021 book Michael Jackson was a Project Monarch victim who wore masks to silence his voice[6]. The 2018 book says "microchipped pills" are a step to compulsory, monitored medication[7].
